SWIMMING POOL OPENING

3 June 2007

The Brays Forest Swimming Pool will hold its' 2007 Summer season opening on 3 June at 12 noon.

Registration will take place at the Pool site and the following guidelines will apply:

  1. Only Homeowners of record or current occupants of the homeowner's residence will be allowed to register.
  2. Any Homeowner who is delinquent with the payment of their Annual Maintenance Fee/s will not be allowed to register until such time that they have paid their past due Annual Maintenance Fee/s including Penalties and Legal cost.
  3. Children 10 years old or under must be accompanied by their parent or an adult supervisor over the age of 18 at all times when using the pool.

WE DESPERATELY NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP IN THIS ENDEAVOR!!!

Two of the Members of our Board of Directors - Mr. Clyde McKenzie and Mr. Rambelto Medrano - have volunteered their time to open the Pool and oversee the operation each Sunday.  BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH -THIS IS YOUR RECREATIONAL FACILITY - IF YOU WANT IT  - YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO SUPPORT IT.  We need more than just one person to help run the operation.

HOMEOWNERS/OCCUPANTS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

There will be a Homeowners/Occupants meeting Thursday, 10 May 2007 at 7:30 PM at the Brays Forest Club House (11415 Bandlon Dr.).

All Homeowners and/or Occupants are urged to attend and discuss Brays Forest Subdivision situations they feel are pertinent.  This is your subdivision - how it is maintained and managed is up to you.

PROBLEMS, COMPLAINTS AND CORRECTIVE ACTION

"THOSE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULD NOT CAST STONES!"

In recent months complaints have been verbally voiced to members of the Board of Directors that were about:

  • Unkempt lawns and flower beds
  • Cars parked in front yards
  • Homeowners refinishing the exterior finish or appearance of their homes without prior approval of the Architectural Committee
  • Using their front yards as gardens
  • Heavy trash being stacked curbside weeks before Heavy Trash pickup was due
  • People using the driveway and side of their house to dry clothes that had been washed
  • Abandoned vehicles left in driveways
  • Trailer houses parked in driveways
  • Dogs running loose
  • The swimming pool will only be open 1 day a week
  • One Board of Director member was accosted while mowing his lawn by a complaining homeowner who flatly stated that they wouldn't come to a BFIC meeting

To you who have complained - Just what have you done to correct these problems?

Did you make any attempt to talk to the neighbor that was causing the complaint?

Did you attend the next BFIC meeting to discuss the problem with the Board of Directors and attempt to seek a solution?

Did you call 311 and file a complaint with the Neighborhood Protection Division?

We previously ask for your vote and approval to increase the Annual Maintenance Fee by a very minimal $8.00 a month (that's $2.00 a week people), and over 50% of you didn't even care enough to vote, much less approve the request.

One homeowner stated that they voted no because they don't swim.  Another homeowner said that they don't even read the BFIC Newsletter; they just throw it in the trash.  What wonderful community spirit.

Apparently  a lot of you don't understand or appreciate the fact that even if you don't utilize the 'Common Grounds Facilities' - they represent an additional monetary value to the Subdivision as a whole, and in particular your personal property value.

Last but not least - when was the last time you came to a Board meeting to offer your support???

The answer to all the above is that you did nothing, thinking that someone else would do your complaining for you.  WRONG!

We continuously ask for your attendance and support at the BFIC meetings and guess what?

In the past year, only 7 homeowners have attended.

Pretty sad for those of you who complain the loudest and don't have the time one evening a month to attend the BFIC meeting to voice your problem and offer your support.

Or better yet, you don't want to get involved - let someone else do it.

Sorry folks, there is only 8 of us on the Board of Directors, and we are not your caretakers.
